The year 2018 is also touted to be a great one for the popular crossover SUV, with the launch of the Toyota RAV4 2018 model . It is the sixth year of the vehicle, which was first launched in 2013. The 2018 model was introduced in September last year and is already experiencing great sales.
The 2018 Toyota RAV4 showcases few major changes and one new trim level. Let’s take a detailed look at what’s new in this car, in terms of the build, features, and safety concerns.
- Engine
The SUV is designed with a 4-cylinder 2.5-liter engine. This 16-valve Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) engine comes with a Dual VVT-I feature for an enhanced performance. Its gasoline-powered motor delivers 176 horsepower at a rate of 6,000 revolutions per minute and a torque of 172 pound-feet. The transmission offered is a six-speed automatic one. In all the three Toyota RAV4 hybrid trim cars, their engine delivers a total horsepower of 194 when teamed with a hybrid battery and electric motor. These hybrid variants replace the six-speed automatic to make way for the continuously variable transmission feature. This allows the model to gain on-demand electronic all-wheel drive, making use of the electric motor, and enhance power on the rear wheels whenever necessary. - Technology
The new Toyota RAV4 models, just like the other cars from Toyota, come with a Toyota Safety Sense P package in the standard equipment. This is a package with multiple features for driver assistance and active safety. The car also comes with a Star Safety System. This is an advanced system, which facilitates traction control, vehicle stability control, anti-lock brake system, brake assist, a brake-force distribution that is electronic, and the smart stop technology feature. Some other tech features of the new model include four infotainment systems, out of which the top two integrate with a navigation system. The third one connects to smartphones and showcases navigation information. - Safety
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway 2Safety, the Toyota RAV4 2018 is one of the best crossover SUVs when it comes to safety. The vehicle’s LED headlamps did well in the institute’s headlight test.
All the above features indicate that the current model is an upgraded and improved version of its previous counterparts. If you are considering purchasing this car, then go ahead and make a confident purchase!
